At least five people died when shots were fired at a youth welfare facility in the northern German town of Stade on Monday. The German authorities have detained two individuals, including the alleged shooter.
According to Reuters, citing officials, the involvement of the second person detained remains unclear. However, it has been confirmed that there are no additional suspects being sought.
Local media reported that the shots were fired near a youth centre. Emergency services rushed to the scene alongside police, who stated there was no ongoing danger to locals.

Residents were urged to avoid the vicinity as officers secured the scene. In a post on X, police said, "We ask you to leave the area and give it a wide berth for your own safety."
"Homicides involving multiple victims occurred at a youth welfare facility. Five people were fatally injured, and additional individuals sustained injuries," AFP quoted police officials. Officials have not yet disclosed the exact number of those wounded.
Police officials said that the suspect had been carrying out a large operation on the outskirts of the city. Officials have not yet disclosed details about what caused the shooting.
