- Blogger alleges Chinese surveillance on Elon Musk during Trump's Beijing visit.
- PLA officer Cheng Cheng reportedly monitored Musk at state banquet.
- Claims remain uncorroborated; China yet to issue response.
A controversial claim by independent blogger Jennifer Zeng has sparked debate online after she alleged that China deployed covert surveillance during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Beijing, including attempts to monitor members of the American delegation and prominent tech executives.
Zeng, in a series of posts on social media, alleged that a server positioned near billionaire Elon Musk at a state banquet was in fact an active-duty officer of the Chinese military operating in disguise.
She wrote in one of her viral posts, “At the CCP's state banquet honouring President Trump @realDonaldTrump, standing next to Elon Musk @elonmusk was Cheng Cheng, a member of the Chinese Communist Party, a battalion commander in the PLA Honour Guard Ceremonial Brigade with the rank of major, a deputy to the 13th and 14th National People’s Congresses, and one of China’s first female honour guards. ”
💥Explosive! We found out who she is, too!

According to Zeng, images circulating on Chinese social media show the same individuals in service uniforms, which she claims supports her allegation of covert identification and surveillance roles within official events.
Who are they, really?

Claim About Waitress Seen Near Elon Musk
She further escalated her claim by suggesting that one of the waitresses seen behind Musk in another photograph was Major Cheng Cheng, whom she described as a high-ranking ceremonial unit officer allegedly involved in training and protocol documentation for military events.
In another post, she wrote, “I think Cheng Cheng had a gun or something under her red dress.”
None of the claims has been independently corroborated, and Chinese authorities have not yet responded to the charges levelled against them.
Past Allegations by Jennifer Zeng
This is not the first time that Zeng has spoken about Beijing's alleged intelligence operations. In 2023, she suggested the involvement of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in the death of Khalistani activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, saying that it intended to destabilise ties between India and the West.
Intelligence experts and analysts have consistently said that China has a history of being accused of operating under the guise of intelligence activities on foreign governments, the corporate world and diplomatic arenas, although many of the charges have remained unverified and undisputed.
Often cited among the evidence of this include references to the alleged infiltration-type operations and alleged suspected influence activities in Western political and tech arenas.
No response has yet been made by Beijing on these current charges, and no independent verification has been made of any claims.
