A US-based comedian sparked outrage after mocking Hindu beliefs during a public meeting in Texas, prompting several Indian-Americans to walk out in protest. The episode has triggered a broader debate over cultural respect and concerns about rising anti-Indian sentiment in some online and right-wing spaces in the United States.

The incident took place at a council session in Plano, Texas. The comedian, identified as Stein and known for provocative political stunts, appeared dressed in a yellow kurta, black shorts, slippers and a red tilak on his forehead. Introducing himself in a caricatured accent as a “young Indian boy from the holy land of India far, far away,” he launched into a series of remarks targeting Hindu customs.

Mocking Religious Practices And Traditions

He repeatedly referred to cow worship and the traditional use of cow dung and cow urine in certain healing practices, describing them in exaggerated and sarcastic terms. “Cow is divine mother,” he said mockingly, calling cow urine “the purest form of medicine straight from the gods” and cow dung “holy gold.” His comments drew visible discomfort from members of the audience.

Stein also referenced Indian-origin FBI Director Kash Patel, saying the Indian-American community was proud of his appointment. He thanked US President Donald Trump for selecting Patel and made remarks about Patel’s reported relationship with country music artist Alexis Wilkins, expressing hope for an “authentic Indian marriage.”

Claims Of Harassment And Political Jibes

At one point, he claimed he was being targeted by the “Muslim Brotherhood” in his neighbourhood for consuming items that are “revered in Indian culture,” before shifting to complaints about his homeowners association (HOA). He alleged neighbours were harassing him for his “holy practices” and filing police complaints.

Several attendees later said the performance crossed the line from satire into cultural ridicule. Community members expressed concern that such portrayals reinforce stereotypes and fuel hostility toward Indian and Hindu communities.
