ChatGPT, Claude Down: Several major artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, including OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude AI, and X's Grok, went down for users globally, including in India, according to real-time outage-tracking website Downdetector.com. Some users also reported experiencing issues with Google Gemini.
Downdetector Records Thousands Of User Reports In India And India
Around 8:20 PM, Downdetector recorded over 2,800 reports of issues with ChatGPT, 170 with Claude, and over 40 with Grok in India. In the United States, over 35,000 reports of issues with ChatGPT, 1,400 with Claude, and 1,200 with Grok were recorded around the same time on Downdetector.

Acknowledging the recent service disruptions, OpenAI stated that there are "elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex" and that they are "investigating the issue for listed services."
Meanwhile, ChatGPT shared a video on X showing stars moving to form an alignment with the caption, "The stars are almost aligned." Minutes earlier, OpenAI posted a teaser for Astra, which it claims "represents a significant advance in cybersecurity capability, reaching the Critical threshold under our Preparedness Framework."
Claude said that it had "identified the cause of elevated errors on requests to Claude Mythos 5.1, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5" and was "working on a fix."
Anthropic later updated that the only affected models at that time were "Opus 4.8 and Opus 5," while the "rest of the models have recovered to baseline error rate."
Similarly, Elon Musk's Grok confirmed that it was experiencing issues, adding, "We are working on restoring service as quickly as possible."
