A day after his video claiming that the "aliens are real" went viral, former US President Barack Obama has issued clarification. In a post on Instagram, Obama stated that he believes that the aliens might exist due to the vastness of the universe. However, the former president added that the chances of aliens visiting Earth is low, adding that he posses no evidence to prove the existence of aliens. The clarification came after a video of Obama saying that he believed in the existence of alien went viral on Saturday.
In his post on Instagram, Obama stated that he was clarifying the issue since his statement has got a "lot of attention". "Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there. But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!" he added.
While talking in a podcast hosted by YouTuber Brian Tyler Cowen, he also debunked the conspiracy theories by stating that there were no aliens in Area 51. "They’re not being kept in Area 51, there’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States," Obama asserted.

Apart from this, he also slammed Trump over the social media posts shared by his account showing Obama and his wife as apes. "What is true is that there doesn’t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum and a sense of propriety and respect for the office. That’s been lost," he said.
