Weather Alert Across US East Coast

Blizzard warnings have been issued for New York City, parts of New Jersey, and Connecticut as a major storm moves across the US East Coast.

The National Weather Service reports snow and storm warnings remain in effect from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast between Sunday and Monday.

Heavy snowfall of up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) is forecast for New York City and Long Island, marking the city’s first blizzard warning since 2017.

Strong winds of 25-35 mph (40-56 kmph), with gusts up to 55 mph, are expected Sunday night, especially along coastal areas from New Jersey to southeastern New England.

Authorities warn that the combination of heavy snow and strong winds could lead to hazardous travel, coastal flooding, and widespread power outages.
