Imagine waking up in your high-rise apartment to find a buzzing army right outside your window. That’s exactly what happened to a woman in Mumbai. But instead of calling someone who knew how to handle bees safely, she went for the usual pest control. And the internet… well, the internet was not happy. Ruma S Bhowmik shared her experience on Instagram in a series of videos that quickly went viral.

In her clips, she filmed from inside her 31st-floor flat as pest control workers tried to remove a massive beehive clinging to the outer wall near her bathroom window. She gave a running commentary, showing viewers every step of the operation.

Her first post came with the caption, "The beehive is really scary," and the second post caption reads, "The first time I saw the process, which was not good for both the party," hinting at the chaotic scene unfolding outside her window. Later, she shared the after video, where the hive had been removed, but sadly, a few bees were lying dead nearby.

The videos racked up over 2 million views, and viewers quickly chimed in. Many expressed concern, saying that instead of pest control, Ruma should have called a beekeeper who could have safely relocated the hive.

One user wrote, "Tbh, not the right method. Using chemical spray along with smoke causes unnecessary bee deaths. Smoke should only be used minimally by trained beekeepers to calm bees. The correct solution is live hive removal and relocation without chemicals, which is safer, effective, long-term, and environmentally responsible." "A beekeeper could’ve handled it safely, and you might even get some honey," a second user wrote.

While Ruma’s story began with fear and frustration, it ultimately sparked an online debate about how humans should interact with nature, even when it appears right outside our windows.
