Minneapolis Shooting: A fresh row sparked in the United States after a 37-year-old man was killed by immigration agents in Minneapolis on Saturday. Alex Jeffrey Pretti, the deceased, worked at the US Department of Veterans Affairs and participated in the protest due to his disagreements with President Trump's immigration crackdown. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that Pretti carried a pistol; however, the viral videos suggest that he was carrying a mobile phone rather than a firearm. Minnesota Democratic Governor Tim Walz, in his post on X, urged President Donald Trump to end the operation of the Department of Homeland Security.
Alex Pretti's Death: Key Updates
- Alex Pretti's parents Michael and Susan stated that they were heartbroken and angry due to the killing of their son, further demanding the "truth" behind his death.
- An eyewitness stated that Pretti was not carrying a gun, adding that the agents shot him several times. "I didn't see him with a gun. They threw him to the ground. Four or five agents had him on the ground, and they just started shooting him. They shot him so many times," the eyewitness was quoted as saying by BBC.

- Governor Tim Walz stated that the US president should stop the operation, adding that the untrained officers should be ousted from Minnesota. "I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now," Walz stated in his post on X.
