Bad Bunny Makes History At Super Bowl 2026: Bad Bunny certainly lived up to his promise that the world will dance during his monumental Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show. On Sunday night, the Puerto Rican superstar delivered a joyous, unapologetic, and unity-themed performance that reached over 100 million viewers. Far from just a musical medley, the show served as a vibrant tribute to Latin American culture and a direct response to political tensions regarding immigration in the United States.
The elaborate set was designed to resemble a Puerto Rican vecindad (neighbourhood), featuring a barber shop, a liquor store, and casita. The stage became a high-profile party spot as A-list stars like Pedro Pascal, Jessica Alba, Karol G, and Cardi B were spotted dancing under the casita’s roof. The spectacle moved through a mock sugar-cane field and a giant dancefloor, climaxing in a truly unique moment, an actual wedding ceremony held on stage.

While the couple exchanged vows, Lady Gaga performed a salsa-infused version of her 2024 hit, ‘Die With a Smile.’ Gaga, who headlined the show in 2017, recently told People that she has endless admiration for Benito, adding, “Honestly, I don’t think he needs any from me… He knows who he is, and that’s the only thing that matters when you step onto that stage. All he has to do is be the beautiful person he already is, and the world will feel his heart.”

Meanhwile, the performance was steeped in subtle and overt political messaging. In a poignant moment, Bad Bunny’s Grammy acceptance speech played on a television screen while he stood with a young boy who closely resembled Liam, the five-year-old child famously detained by ICE in Minneapolis last month. Bad Bunny symbolically handed the boy his Grammy Award. Additionally, this performance marked the first-ever mostly Spanish-language halftime show in Super Bowl history. To honour those who paved the way, Bad Bunny welcomed fellow Puerto Rican icon Ricky Martin for a surprise duet.
