Xiaomi is getting ready to unveil the Xiaomi 17T series globally on May 28, but ahead of the launch, the company has already started revealing key details about the standard Xiaomi 17T through its India microsite.
And this year, there’s one noticeable change in Xiaomi’s strategy.
Unlike the rest of the Xiaomi 17 lineup, which uses Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, the Xiaomi 17T series is going all-in on MediaTek processors. Both the standard and Pro variants are now confirmed to feature MediaTek Dimensity chipsets instead.

Xiaomi 17T To Use MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra
The updated microsite confirms that the Xiaomi 17T will run on the octa core MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor. Interestingly, the same chipset is also expected to power the upcoming Redmi Turbo 5, which has already been teased for India.
Xiaomi appears to be positioning the 17T as a performance-focused device without pushing it fully into ultra-premium flagship territory.
Big Battery And Fast Charging Confirmed
The company has also confirmed that the Xiaomi 17T will pack a 6,500mAh silicon carbon battery with support for 67W wired fast charging through a USB Type-C port.
Battery capacity has clearly become one of the major focus areas for smartphone brands this year, and Xiaomi seems to be leaning heavily into that trend with the 17T series.
On the front, the phone will feature a punch-hole display design. Xiaomi says the panel will carry multiple TÜV Rheinland certifications, including Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, Circadian Friendly, and Intelligent Eye Care certifications aimed at improving long-term viewing comfort.
Xiaomi 17T Pro Will Push Things Further
While the standard model is using the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, the Xiaomi 17T Pro is expected to sit much higher in the lineup.
The company has already confirmed that the Pro variant will be powered by the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset built on a 3nm process. It will also feature a larger 7,000mAh silicon carbon battery.
Xiaomi claims the 17T Pro can deliver up to 9.5 hours of continuous video recording on a single charge, which hints at a strong focus on creators and heavy users.
India Launch Date And Camera Details
The Xiaomi 17T series will debut globally on May 28, while the standard Xiaomi 17T is scheduled to launch in India on June 4.
The smartphone will be sold through Amazon and the Xiaomi India online store. Xiaomi has also confirmed Leica-tuned triple rear cameras for the handset, including a telephoto sensor capable of up to 5x optical zoom, 10x “optical quality” zoom, and up to 120x digital zoom.
