TP-Link India has begun domestic manufacturing of its Wi-Fi 7 product lineup in India, and this follows a government notification from the Department of Telecommunication which was released in January of 2026 that effectively delicenses the 6GHz spectrum band, which has prompted the companies to manufacture new Wi-Fi technologies, which includes Wi-Fi 7. This also makes TP-Link one of the first global brands to develop Wi-Fi 7 indigenously and will also make way for its wider adoption in the future.

The Ministry of Communications has laid down rules that notify that low-power indoor and very low-power outdoor wireless access systems, which also include WiFi and operate under the 6GHz frequency band, no longer require licensing. This applies to devices that operate at frequencies ranging between 5925 and 6425 MHz; this has given access to 500 MHz after DoT's January 2026 notification. With Wi-Fi 7 adoption, reliability on services such as cloud computing, IoT ecosystems and AI applications will increase.

TP-Link India says nearly 92 per cent of the products it currently sells in the country are already being manufactured locally through Indian EMS partners. The company now plans to push localisation further, targeting around 96 to 97 percent local manufacturing over the next three years as part of the government’s Make in India initiative.

“With the opening of the 6GHz band, India is entering a transformative phase in enterprise connectivity. We are continuously strengthening our manufacturing capabilities, expanding our R&D ecosystem, and investing in partner development to not only address India's evolving technology requirements but also position India as a strategic manufacturing and supply hub for global markets," said Sanjay Sehgal, MD and CEO of TP-Link India.

TP-Link India is gradually expanding its Wi-Fi 7 lineup under the Omada portfolio, and the Omada EAP770 is among the products leading that push. Designed for enterprise and high-density setups, the ceiling-mounted access point comes with tri-band Wi-Fi 7 support to handle faster speeds and smoother connectivity across larger spaces.

The company says the EAP770 also works with TP-Link’s Omada Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform, which helps businesses manage and monitor their networks more efficiently through a centralised system. TP-Link has also confirmed that more Wi-Fi 7 products manufactured in India are on the way and will be launched over the coming months.
