Vivo is shaking things up with its next flagship lineup. The company has confirmed that the Vivo X500 series will launch in China in September, and unlike last year's X300 series, there will be three phones this time, the Vivo X500, Vivo X500 Pro and Vivo X500 Pro Max.

The addition of a Pro Max model is one of the biggest changes this year. Vivo has also been teasing some serious camera upgrades, with the top-end model getting a few features that won't be available on the other phones.

Vivo X500 Series Is Coming In September

Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao confirmed the September launch in a post on Weibo. While the company hasn't shared the exact date yet, it has revealed the three phones that will make up the new lineup.

Last year, Vivo initially launched the X300 and X300 Pro. This time, the company is adding the X500 Pro Max, which will sit above the other two models as the most premium option.

And it looks like Vivo is putting a lot of focus on cameras this time around.

Vivo Is Promising A Big Camera Upgrade

According to Boxiao, the X500 Pro series will feature a new 'Zeiss Super Dynamic' primary camera, paired with a Blueprint Phantom 900 sensor. Vivo says the sensor can deliver an impressive 17EV dynamic range, which should help capture more detail in scenes with both very bright and dark areas.

Video recording is getting some attention too. The X500 Pro series will reportedly be able to shoot 4K video at up to 240fps, while 4K/120fps HDR recording will also be supported.

The X500 Pro Max will get a few extra tricks of its own. Vivo says the top-end phone will feature three-degree wide-angle optical image stabilisation, along with CIPA 7.0-rated professional-grade image stabilisation.

New MediaTek Chips Could Power The Series

Vivo hasn't revealed the processors yet, although the X500 lineup is expected to use unreleased MediaTek chipsets. So, there's still quite a bit we don't know about the performance side of these phones.

The design of at least one model has also reportedly surfaced. The X500 Pro was recently spotted during an advertisement shoot, showing a circular camera module on the back that looks similar to the one used on the previous generation.

As for the X500 Pro Max, it has already appeared on China's 3C certification platform. The listing reportedly revealed 90W wired charging and 5G connectivity.

Vivo hasn't revealed the exact September launch date just yet. But with the company already talking about the cameras and confirming the three-phone lineup, we probably won't have to wait too long for the remaining details.
