Vivo has officially started teasing the Vivo X300 FE for India, and the approach this time feels a little more thought-out than just another spec-heavy launch. The company confirmed that the phone will be unveiled on May 6, with sales expected to begin from May 14. It will arrive alongside the Vivo X300 Ultra, which is being positioned as the brand’s top camera-focused flagship.

The teaser itself keeps things simple but drops a few important hints. There’s a green colour variant on display, and Vivo says it will be exclusive to India. It’s a small detail, but one that helps the device stand out in a crowded premium segment.

The Design Feels Like A Proper Refresh

If you’ve seen the Vivo X200 FE, you’ll immediately notice that Vivo has changed things up. The older model had a vertical camera layout pushed to one side, but the X300 FE moves to a horizontal pill-shaped camera module. It now houses three sensors in a cleaner, more balanced layout, along with an LED flash and ZEISS branding.

It’s not just a visual tweak. The new layout makes the phone look more in line with current flagship design trends, and more importantly, it signals that cameras are again the main focus here.

That External Lens Is Not Just A Gimmick

The most interesting part, though, is something you don’t usually see on smartphones. Vivo is bringing support for an external ZEISS telephoto extender to the X300 FE, similar to what we’re seeing on the X300 Ultra.

In simple terms, this means you can attach an additional lens to push zoom capabilities further than what the built-in hardware allows. It’s clearly aimed at users who actually care about photography, not just megapixel numbers. Whether it becomes practical in daily use is something we’ll only know after trying it, but it’s definitely a bold move.

Solid Specs Back It Up

Beyond the camera story, the hardware looks properly flagship. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip, so performance shouldn’t be a concern.

In the front, there is a 6.31-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED screen that operates at a frequency of 120Hz, ensuring you get great clarity when scrolling through your content.

As for the cameras, there is a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide camera with ZEISS optics. This means that, without the extra camera module, the phone looks good on paper.

Battery life also seems like a strong point, with a 6,500mAh battery and support for 90W wired and 40W wireless charging.

Price And Availability

As for pricing, the Vivo X300 FE is expected to land somewhere between Rs 55,000 and Rs 75,000. It will likely be offered in 12GB RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options.

With the launch locked for May 6 and availability expected from May 14, Vivo seems to be trying to strike a balance here, offering flagship performance while also experimenting with something new on the camera front.

Now the real question is simple: will that external lens actually change how people use smartphone cameras, or will it remain more of a niche feature?
