Vivo is about to drop two new phones in India, and while they sit in the same X300 lineup, they’re clearly aimed at very different users. The Vivo X300 Ultra and Vivo X300 FE are launching on May 6, with sales starting from May 14.
And from what we already know, this isn’t just a simple lineup update. Vivo seems to be trying two very different approaches here.
The X300 FE Is Small But Doesn’t Feel Like A Compromise
The X300 FE looks like Vivo’s attempt at making a compact phone that still feels properly premium. It comes with a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which should be smooth without killing battery life.

What stands out more is the performance angle. It’s expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which means this isn’t a “lite” device in the usual sense. It should handle pretty much anything you throw at it.
Battery is another surprise. A 6,500mAh unit in a relatively compact phone sounds ambitious, and with 90W wired and 40W wireless charging, it’s clearly built for heavy use.
Camera-wise, it keeps things balanced with a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide. Nothing extreme, but solid enough for most people.
Also, there’s a new green shade that’s said to be India-exclusive, along with Lilac Purple, Noir Black, and Urban Olive.
The X300 Ultra Is Just Going All Out
Then there’s the X300 Ultra, which is clearly not trying to be subtle. This is Vivo going full flagship mode.
You’re looking at a big 6.82-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and brightness that can go up to 3,000 nits. On paper, it sounds like one of those screens that will just look great no matter what you’re doing.
Performance should be top-tier as well, with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, up to 16GB RAM, and storage going all the way to 1TB.
The camera setup is where things get interesting. A 200-megapixel main sensor, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide isn’t something you see every day. Vivo is also pushing something called an external telephoto extender, which sounds like it’s aimed at people who really care about zoom and photography.
Battery sits at 6,600mAh with 100W charging, so it’s not just powerful, it’s built to last.
Pricing Gives You A Clear Choice
Reports suggest the X300 Ultra could land around ₹1,60,000, while the X300 FE may start at roughly ₹80,000. That’s a pretty big gap, and it makes the positioning obvious.
One is trying to be a compact all-rounder that still feels flagship, and the other is a no-holds-barred premium device, especially for camera-focused users.
So What’s The Real Difference
If you look at both phones side by side, this isn’t just about specs. It’s about how you use your phone.

The X300 FE feels like it’s made for people who want power without carrying a huge device. The Ultra, on the other hand, is clearly for those who want the absolute best Vivo can offer, especially in cameras.
Now it really comes down to how these actually perform once they’re out. On paper, both look strong, just in very different ways.
