In recent updates, WhatsApp has been steadily adding some minor but very helpful features to its interface. Most of these features have been designed to make the chats seem more personalised while also providing privacy options to the users. Right from silencing unknown calls to sharing AI-generated images through Status, the app seems to be incorporating features that suit user preferences.
About Section Now Works More Like A Live Status
One of the more noticeable additions is the updated About section. People can now see and respond to your About directly from chats, which makes it feel closer to a lightweight status update instead of a static profile line most users forget exists. It can be used to share availability, moods, or quick updates without needing to post a full Status.
Users can edit it by heading to Settings and tapping the bubble attached to the profile picture. Privacy controls are still available, so visibility can be limited to selected contacts.
Silence Unknown Callers Adds Another Layer Of Privacy
Spam and scam calls continue to be a problem across messaging platforms, and WhatsApp is now making it easier to avoid them. With Silence Unknown Callers enabled, calls from numbers outside your contacts will no longer ring your phone. The calls will still appear in the Calls tab, so users can review them later if needed.
The feature can be enabled through Settings > Privacy > Calls > Silence Unknown Callers.
Link Previews Now Show More Information Inside Chats
There have been updates on WhatsApp regarding the display of shared links in chats as well. Now shared links will feature bigger preview images and more information about them that can help distinguish between safe links and those that pose a potential threat to your device.
Users only need to paste a link and send it normally to see the updated preview format.
AI-Generated Images Can Now Be Shared On Status
Meta AI is also becoming more integrated into WhatsApp’s core features. Users can now generate AI-created images directly for Status updates instead of uploading a regular image.
The feature works by allowing users to type a description of the image they want to create. WhatsApp suggests it can be used for things like travel plans, announcements, or casual updates shared with contacts.
To access it, users can open Status, tap AI Images, and enter a prompt.
Privacy Checkup Brings Settings Into One Place
WhatsApp is also making privacy settings easier to manage through Privacy Checkup. Instead of manually searching through multiple menus, users can review and update key privacy controls from a single section.
This includes settings related to profile visibility, calls, last seen preferences, and other account protections.
The feature is available under Settings > Privacy > Privacy Checkup.
While all of these alone may not totally revolutionise how WhatsApp works, when put together, they definitely point towards what the app intends to become. Privacy options, AI features, and even little extras that will blend into everyday chatting are what seem to be emphasised.
