Tecno is getting ready to expand its Pova lineup in India, and the next smartphone in the series now has an official launch date. The company has confirmed that the Tecno Pova 8 will debut in the country on June 11, giving buyers a first look at what could be one of the most battery-focused phones in its segment.

Before its official release, Tecno has teased about the phone through some of its official social media accounts and shopping portals, offering some information while keeping much under wraps. The most obvious highlight from the teaser is the huge 8,000mAh battery capacity. Provided that this is true, the Tecno Pova 8 will join the ranks of having one of the biggest batteries of a smartphone today, making it attractive to those who play games and watch videos for long hours without frequent recharging.

The teaser images also show that Tecno is making some design changes this time around. While the rear camera layout looks familiar and carries forward elements from the Pova 7, the company appears to have added a new matrix-style lighting system around the camera module. The dotted LED pattern bears a resemblance to the Glyph Matrix interface seen on recent Nothing smartphones, suggesting that the lights could be used for notifications, alerts, and other visual cues without needing to switch on the display.

The handset is expected to be sold through Flipkart following its launch, with promotional banners for the device already appearing on the platform.

Beyond the official teasers, recent leaks and certification listings have painted a clearer picture of what may be under the hood. A Geekbench listing believed to be associated with the Pova 8 suggests the phone could arrive with MediaTek's Dimensity 7100 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM. The benchmark listing also points to Android 16 software out of the box.

Meanwhile, an FCC certification has reportedly revealed support for 45W wired fast charging, which should help offset the challenge of topping up such a large battery. Connectivity options are expected to include 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and NFC, although NFC availability could vary depending on the region.

Storage options tipped for the device include 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and a higher-end 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variant.

With less than a week to go before launch, the Tecno Pova 8 is shaping up to be a smartphone that focuses heavily on battery life while also introducing a more distinctive design. Whether it can stand out in India's crowded budget and mid-range smartphone market will become clear once Tecno reveals pricing and complete specifications on June 11.
