The South Korean tech giant has announced the One UI 9 Beta programme for the Galaxy S26 series, and this announcement comes right after the global rollout of its One UI 8.5 began for all the other Galaxy devices. The latest One UI will be built on Android 17 and will come with an array of tools that could increase the creative horizon of the UI, customisation options, and a more user-friendly and accessible mobile experience with an impetus on hardening its security as well.
Samsung has also expressed that a full experience of this latest One UI 9 will be showcased with the latest Galaxy devices that will be launched later this year, including advanced AI features making mobile interaction seamless and smooth.
Updates Introduced With The One UI 9 Beta Programme
Smarter Customisation And Productivity Features
Samsung is adding a more refined and personalised experience with One UI 9 beta. The Samsung Notes app now comes with creative additions like decorative tape elements and more pen stroke styles, giving users extra flexibility while taking notes or designing content. The Contacts app has also become more interactive, as users can now jump directly into Creative Studio to build custom profile cards without leaving the app.
More Flexible Quick Panel Controls
The Quick Panel is getting a major usability upgrade in One UI 9 beta. Samsung now allows separate adjustment controls for brightness, sound, and the media player layout, along with additional resizing options. This gives users better control over how the panel looks and functions based on their preferences.
Accessibility Improvements Across the Interface
Samsung is also focusing heavily on accessibility with this update. Mouse key speed can now be adjusted for smoother and more accurate cursor movement, while TalkBack has been streamlined by combining features previously split between Samsung and Google services. A new Text Spotlight feature has also been introduced, which enlarges or highlights selected text inside a floating window to improve readability.
Stronger Security Against Risky Apps
One UI 9 beta also strengthens device protection with smarter security alerts. If the system detects potentially dangerous or high-risk apps, users will now receive warnings; installation and execution can be blocked automatically, and the software may also recommend deleting suspicious apps through updated security policies.
Availability Of The Beta Programme
The One UI 9 beta programme will start off within this week itself with select regions, including the UK, this week with Galaxy S26 users as the main focus for now, and the people enrolling in this programme can join the beta programme through Samsung's Members app.
