It seems like the One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series might be very close to a rollout, and just before that a detailed changelog for the stable version has surfaced. The update is based on Android 16 QPR2, and this comes after multiple beta releases that have already taken place, and this can be the final one before a global rollout to a wider audience begins. Now an exact release date has not been confirmed by Samsung, although surfacing of the changelog hints that it may arrive soon.

Top User-Facing Features
With One UI 8.5, the focus clearly shifts towards making AI feel more native across the system rather than just an added layer. Galaxy AI now brings more practical tools into everyday use, including text-based image editing, seamless object transfer between photos, and continuous image generation that doesn’t force users to save every step along the way. There’s also a new Creative Studio app, designed to let users create wallpapers and stickers directly on the device without relying on third-party apps.
Call management is getting smarter too. Bixby Text Call now lets users screen incoming calls before picking up, adding a layer of convenience and control. The Interpreter feature has also been refined with automatic language detection, so conversations can flow naturally without manually switching languages midway.
On the camera front, Samsung is adding features that feel more practical than flashy. Automatic document scanning is now built-in, while dual recording allows simultaneous use of front and rear cameras. Video recording also gets real-time LUT previews, making it easier to visualise the final output before hitting record. Alongside this, new portrait filters and motion photo detection aim to balance creativity with smarter storage management.
System and Utility Augments
The system will sport a redesigned visual appeal with blur effects added to it and floating elements as well, all with the goal of improving navigation. The lock screen will also receive an overhaul with adaptive layouts, weather effects and more controls when it comes to the clock.
Battery settings will showcase use trends as per the user with better clarity, and also better privacy controls will be added to it with notifications that prompt the user if an application is malicious. Storage Share and Auto Hotspot will be there for improved connectivity across Samsung devices. Apart from all this, there are better accessibility controls as well.

When Will It Release?
Samsung is quite quiet right now about its release date, but the surfacing of this changelog suggests that a release might be closer than you think, and its rollout might likely take place in phases as well.
