Samsung has also confirmed that its forthcoming Galaxy S26 series will be home to a new AI assistant, boosting the functionality of Galaxy AI. The new lineup, which may consist of the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, will embed Perplexity AI throughout the system. Users will activate the assistant using the “Hey Plex” hotword or by pressing the side button. The AI agent will operate throughout Samsung’s built-in apps and a handful of third-party ones, providing more in-depth AI-powered assistance.
Perplexity AI Integration Across Samsung Apps
According to Samsung, Perplexity AI will be added to “upcoming flagship Galaxy devices” as an additional AI agent. Samsung smartphones already support Galaxy AI and Google’s Gemini AI, and earlier this year, the company revealed that its revamped Bixby assistant would be powered by Perplexity AI.

Perplexity AI integration will be available within apps like Samsung Notes, Reminder, Calendar, Clock, and Gallery. Support for certain third-party apps installed on the Galaxy S26 series will also be available, unlocking extended AI-powered workflows.

Not Samsung’s First Step Into Third-Party AI
Samsung isn’t the only one to embrace third-party AI assistants, however. In April 2025, Lenovo-owned Motorola revealed that its upcoming smartphones would include Perplexity AI as a built-in assistant, which has already been rolled out on all recently released Motorola devices. Samsung’s move is further indicative of an emerging trend where phones see multi-agent AI experiences.

Galaxy S26 Ultra and Launch Details
The upcoming lineup of this year is likely to be headlined by the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which confirms it has a new Privacy Display feature in its debut. This hardware-level technology dynamically alters viewing angles to prevent passersby from being able to see sensitive on-screen information.
We now know that the Galaxy S26 series will be announced in the first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year by Samsung itself. In parallel, the company is also expected to unveil Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro with a new design.
