If your usage is mostly calling and you’re tired of paying for data you barely use, Reliance Jio has introduced a plan that’s clearly designed with you in mind.

The Rs 448 prepaid plan offers a total validity of 84 days. When you break that down, it comes to roughly Rs 5.3 per day, which is significantly lower than what most prepaid users end up paying right now. With regular plans averaging around Rs 10 per day, and even touching Rs 15 when OTT and data benefits are included, this plan positions itself as a much cheaper alternative.

But there’s an obvious trade-off here.

No Data, Only Calling And SMS

This is a voice-only prepaid plan. That means you don’t get any mobile data bundled in. Instead, the plan focuses purely on essential connectivity. It includes unlimited voice calling and 1,000 SMS for the entire validity period.

For users who still rely on Wi-Fi for internet or simply need a secondary number for calls, this kind of plan can actually make a lot of sense. If you do need data occasionally, Jio allows you to add separate data vouchers on top.

Why Jio Introduced This Plan

This move follows directions from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, which asked telecom operators to roll out voice-only prepaid plans. The idea was to give users more flexibility instead of forcing bundled data with every recharge.

Additional Benefits And Limitations

Jio is also offering access to JioTV and JioAICloud with this plan, but beyond that, there aren’t many extras. You don’t get 5G access or OTT subscriptions, which are now common in higher-priced plans.

Longer Validity Option Available

If you want something even longer, Jio also has a Rs 1748 plan. It extends validity to 336 days and offers unlimited calling along with 3,600 SMS, sticking to the same voice-first approach.

In conclusion, the Rs 448 plan is undoubtedly designed with a particular user in mind. This plan does not intend to compete against highly equipped data plans but seeks to keep the cost minimal and ensure reliability.
