Redmi is preparing to bring its Turbo series to India for the first time. The company has confirmed that the Redmi Turbo 5 will launch in the country on June 16, giving Indian consumers their first look at a smartphone lineup that has so far remained exclusive to China.
Ahead of the launch, Redmi has started revealing key details about the handset, and it appears the company is positioning the Turbo 5 as a performance-focused device. In fact, Redmi claims it will be the fastest smartphone it has launched so far, while also featuring the largest battery ever seen on a Redmi-branded phone.
Speed has a new name.

The smartphone will be available through Amazon, with a dedicated microsite already live on the e-commerce platform. Promotional images shared by the company also show the device in black and white colour options, though Redmi has not yet disclosed the official marketing names of these finishes.
MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra Confirmed
One of the biggest announcements ahead of launch is the chipset powering the Redmi Turbo 5. Redmi has confirmed that the phone will run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor.
According to the company, the chipset helps the device achieve an AnTuTu benchmark score of over 2.3 million points, placing it firmly in the upper tier of performance-focused smartphones. Redmi has also confirmed support for up to 24GB RAM, although half of that figure comes through virtual RAM expansion. This suggests the handset is likely to launch with a 12GB LPDDR5x RAM variant in India.
Storage specifications have not been fully revealed yet, but Redmi has confirmed the use of UFS 4.1 storage technology, which should offer faster app loading times and data transfers compared to older storage standards.
To keep temperatures under control during gaming and intensive workloads, the company is also equipping the phone with its 3D Ice-Loop Cooling system.
Chinese Variant Gives A Good Idea Of What To Expect
While Redmi is still holding back some India-specific details, the Turbo 5 is already available in China, offering a fairly clear picture of what could arrive in the Indian market.
The Chinese model features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,268 x 2,756 pixels. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz, and a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits.
The smartphone is powered by the same MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset and is available with up to 16GB LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
For photography, the handset carries a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 primary sensor with an f/1.5 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. On the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie shooter.
Perhaps the most eye-catching specification is the battery. The Chinese variant packs a massive 7,560mAh battery paired with 100W wired fast charging support, which aligns with Redmi's claim that the Turbo 5 will carry the biggest battery ever fitted into a Redmi smartphone.
With the launch now just days away, Redmi is expected to reveal additional specifications, pricing details and availability information before the June 16 debut. If the Indian model mirrors its Chinese counterpart closely, the Turbo 5 could arrive as one of the more aggressive performance-focused smartphones in its segment.
