Qualcomm has officially put a date on one of the biggest events in the Android calendar. The company has confirmed that Snapdragon Summit 2026 will take place between September 22 and September 24 in Maui, Hawaii, where it is widely expected to unveil the processors that will power the next generation of flagship Android phones.
While Qualcomm is tight lipped about what it plans to announce this time, but right now it seems like all signs point to the arrival of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 lineup. If recent leaks are accurate, the company could introduce two flagship chips this year: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. They would succeed last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which currently powers several premium Android smartphones.
The two chips are rumoured to be Qualcomm's first flagship mobile processors built on TSMC's 2nm manufacturing process. Leaks also suggest the Pro variant carries the model number SM8975, while the standard version is internally identified as SM8950.
The changes may not stop there. Both processors are expected to adopt Qualcomm's new 2+3+3 Oryon CPU architecture, signalling another step forward in the company's custom core strategy. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is tipped to pair that architecture with an Adreno 850 GPU and support for both LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X memory. The standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, meanwhile, is expected to feature an Adreno 845 GPU and LPDDR5X RAM support.

Qualcomm has yet to confirm any technical specifications, but if the leaked details hold up, both chips should offer a noticeable jump in CPU, graphics and AI performance over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The announcement is also likely to kick off the next wave of Android flagships. As has been the case in previous years, phone makers are expected to move quickly after the summit, with devices such as the Xiaomi 17 series, OnePlus 16 and iQOO 16 currently rumoured to be among the first to arrive with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro under the hood.
