Poco has locked in the launch date for its next M series smartphone in India. The Poco M8 Power will make its debut on August 4 at 12pm IST, and the company has already started revealing what buyers can expect from the new handset.

The biggest talking point is its battery. Poco has confirmed that the M8 Power will pack a huge 8,000mAh battery, which it claims can keep the phone running for up to three days on a single charge. If those claims hold up, it could be one of the longest lasting smartphones in its segment.

The company has also confirmed that the phone will feature an AMOLED display, although it is keeping the finer details under wraps for now. As with recent Poco launches, the handset will be sold through Flipkart after it goes official.

Poco's teasers have also given us our first proper look at the phone. The M8 Power is shown in a bright orange finish with a large square camera module that stretches across the top of the rear panel. The module houses two rear cameras along with an LED flash, while the Poco branding sits neatly alongside them.

That's all Poco has officially revealed so far, but rumours have already filled in some of the blanks. The M8 Power is widely expected to be a rebadged Redmi Note 17, which was recently launched in China. If that's the case, the two phones could end up sharing most of their hardware.

The Redmi Note 17 comes with a 7 inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,800 nits peak brightness and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor and is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Whether all of those specifications make their way to the Indian variant remains to be seen.

The Poco M8 Power will join the existing Poco M8 in the company's lineup. For reference, the Poco M8 debuted earlier this year at Rs. 18,999 for the 6GB + 128GB model, while the 8GB + 128GB variant was priced at Rs. 19,999. Poco is expected to reveal the M8 Power's pricing and full specifications at the launch event next week.
