As far as the world of technology is concerned, innovation is taking place almost every other day, and these days the wearable industry is gaining a lot of traction, and it's not just looks but utility as well that these wearables are keen on delivering. At our end here, I received the Oura Ring 4 in silver, but before that, on day one, folks at Oura sent over a sizing kit before the actual review unit. After trying multiple sizes, I went with Size 10 since it fit snugly and felt secure. After that the ring arrived in a couple of days, although I would have preferred the matte/ceramic finish, but the silver has grown on me.

Setup And First Impressions

So how does the ring perform? Well, I did a two-week real-world review of the device, focusing on sleep tracking, and this is what I feel about it. On days 3 and 4 I started with the app and setup. Since Oura is new to India, the app initially didn’t list India as a country. It was added later. Setup is still more complicated than it should be: you’re redirected to Oura’s website, create an account, add payment details, choose a monthly or yearly plan, then return to the app to pair the ring. After this was set up on Day 5, I began with the baseline tracking. The app asks you to wear the ring for a while before detailed insights begin. Fair enough.

Sleep Tracking Begins

Now, Day 6 and 7 are when the real sleep tracking begins. By now the ring had enough data to properly understand my sleep. Every morning I got a full breakdown: total sleep, REM, deep sleep, disturbances, sleep timing and readiness. On day 8 I noticed that sleep timing makes a big difference. Sleeping late hurt my next-day score. Sleeping on time and eating earlier improved it noticeably.

Understanding Deep Sleep

By Day 9, deep sleep became my go-to metric. Sometimes longer sleep didn’t mean better recovery. Strong deep sleep often mattered more than total hours of sleep.

Recovery Insights

While you are asleep, the ring tracks metrics like resting heart rate, HRV and temperature trends, and a couple of mornings it suggested that I take it easy, and it wasn't wrong there.

Comfort Over Time

I expected it to be annoying overnight and thought that it would bother me while asleep. But it wasn’t. After a few nights I forgot it was there.

Habit Tracking And Patterns

By the 12th day I was getting a complete round-up, and metrics like late meals, extra screen time and inconsistent bedtimes showed up in the data. That's not it; even my good habits and routines showed up in data showcasing clear benefits of a better routine.

Pricing And Availability

In India, as of April 2026, the standard Silver and Black variants are priced at ₹28,900. If you’re looking at the more premium finishes like Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold, or Rose Gold, the price goes up to ₹39,900. On top of that, there’s a ₹599 per month membership you’ll need to factor in.

What Works Well

Where this really stands out is sleep tracking and recovery insights, which feel detailed and genuinely useful over time. It’s also very comfortable to wear all night, doesn’t feel intrusive, and the design has a premium touch to it. Battery life is another strong point, easily lasting multiple days, and it quietly pushes you toward building better daily habits.

Where It Falls Short

That said, the setup process isn’t the smoothest and could be simpler. The subscription model might not work for everyone, especially at this price point. It’s also fairly expensive for what it offers, not really built for hardcore workout tracking, and the lack of any display could be a dealbreaker depending on what you expect from it.

Final Verdict

If you are someone who wants proper sleep tracking with the goal of better sleep and recovery, this is one of the smartest wearables I have used. But if you want to track runs, gym stats and notifications, a smartwatch may suite you better.
