A Finish Health tech brand Oura has just dropped its first smart ring in India on Tuesday. The company is calling its latest wearable Oura Ring 4. One thing to note here is that the product was launched in the global markets around two years ago, and this launch marks its entry in the Indian wearable health and fitness market. Similar to the global model, this smart ring keeps in focus health tracking, recovery insights and sleep analysis. The ring is compatible with the Oura app and also comes with Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) support. The device is also equipped with Smart Sensing tech for spot-on activity readings.

Design That Stays Light But Tough

The Oura Ring 4 sticks to a clean, minimal design but upgrades the feel with a full titanium build that’s both skin-friendly and easy to wear all day. It’s also built to handle water exposure up to 100 metres. The ring measures 7.90mm across and 2.8mm thick, and its weight varies between 3.3g and 5.2g depending on the size. For connectivity, it uses Bluetooth Low Energy to stay paired with the Oura app.

A Bigger Push On Accuracy

With this version, Oura is leaning heavily into what it calls Smart Sensing. In simple terms, it’s a mix of refined algorithms and high-grade sensors working together to offer more personalised and precise health data. The company says this system has even been validated by global research bodies like the University of Tokyo and the National University of Singapore.

What’s Powering The Tracking?

Inside, the ring uses an 18-path, multi-wavelength PPG (photoplethysmography) system that continuously monitors your body throughout the day and night. It tracks key metrics like resting heart rate, heart rate variability, sleep cycles and temperature changes. For deeper insights, it relies on red and infrared LEDs to check blood oxygen levels during sleep, while green and infrared LEDs are used to monitor heart rate, HRV and breathing patterns overnight.

This ring also comes with an accelerometer, used for tracking movement and different types of activity levels; with that, it also has a digital temperature sensor that senses changes in the body. This new Oura Ring 4 can offer up to eight days of battery life, that too on a single charge, the company claims. The ring can be charged in 20 to 80 minutes, which depends on the amount of battery available in the device. The Oura Ring 4 also comes with its own proprietary charger.
