Oppo Reno 16 Series: Not everyone shopping for a new smartphone is looking to spend over a lakh on a flagship. Many simply want a phone that looks premium, clicks great photos and doesn't feel like a compromise in day-to-day use. That's exactly the space Oppo has been targeting with its Reno series, and the new Reno 16 lineup follows the same approach.

The company has launched the Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16c in India, bringing a fresh design, upgraded cameras, larger batteries and a long list of AI features. Oppo also introduced an entirely new accessory called the OPPO Bubble, alongside the Enco Air5 wireless earbuds.

Here's everything the company announced.

Oppo Reno 16 Series Price In India

The Oppo Reno 16 starts at Rs 61,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, while the 12GB + 256GB model is priced at Rs 67,999.

The Reno 16c is positioned as the more affordable option. It costs Rs 46,999 for the 8GB + 128GB version, Rs 49,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant and Rs 55,999 for the top-end 12GB + 256GB model.

The newly announced OPPO Bubble is priced at Rs 7,999, while the Enco Air5 earbuds cost Rs 3,299.

Both smartphones will go on sale in India from July 9 through Amazon, Flipkart, Oppo's online store and authorised retail outlets.

Oppo Is Clearly Focusing On Design This Time

Oppo has given the Reno 16 series a noticeable design refresh. The Starry White colour option comes with what the company calls India's first HoloVerse 3D design. Instead of a flat finish, the back panel is designed to create a floating planet-like effect that changes with light.

The camera module blends neatly into the rear panel instead of looking like a separate block, while the aluminium frame adds to the premium feel.

The Reno 16 gets a relatively compact 6.32-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,800 nits of peak brightness. The Reno 16c features a larger 6.57-inch AMOLED screen with the same 120Hz refresh rate, although its peak brightness tops out at 1,400 nits.

Both phones also come with IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, so they're built to handle dust and water better than most devices in this segment.

Cameras Continue To Be The Biggest Highlight

Oppo has once again made cameras the centrepiece of the Reno series.

The Reno 16 packs a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 50-megapixel telephoto portrait lens with 3.5x optical zoom and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

The Reno 16c shares the same 50-megapixel main and telephoto cameras, but swaps the ultra-wide sensor for an 8-megapixel unit.

For selfies, both phones use a 50-megapixel front camera with a 100-degree field of view, making it easier to fit more people into the frame.

The camera app also gets several AI additions. Features like AI Remix Collage let users combine photos, Live Photos and videos into a single collage, while AI Recompose, AI Perfect Shot, AI Best Face, AI Eraser, AI Studio, Pop Cam and Popout 2.0 are aimed at making editing quicker without relying on third-party apps.

Bigger Batteries And New AI Features

Under the hood, the Reno 16 runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, while the Reno 16c is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300.

Both smartphones ship with ColorOS 16 and include AI LinkBoost 4.0 to improve network stability and AI HyperBoost 2.0 for smoother gaming sessions.

Oppo has also expanded its AI feature set beyond photography. The phones include tools such as AI Mind Pilot and AI Mind Space, which are designed to help users organise information and improve productivity.

Battery capacity has also gone up this year. The Reno 16 packs a 6,700mAh battery, while the Reno 16c pushes that further with a 7,000mAh unit. Both support 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.

OPPO Bubble Is Something Different

Alongside the Reno 16 series, Oppo also unveiled the OPPO Bubble, a magnetic accessory that's built for people who enjoy taking photos and recording videos.

It features a 1.73-inch AMOLED display that mirrors the live preview from the phone's rear cameras. That means users can frame selfies using the primary cameras instead of the front camera. It can also work as a wireless remote, making it easier to capture group shots or record videos from a distance.

The accessory carries an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.

With the Reno 16 series, Oppo isn't trying to reinvent the smartphone. Instead, it's refining the formula that has worked well for the Reno lineup over the years. Better cameras, bigger batteries, a refreshed design and a few interesting AI additions are the biggest upgrades this time around. Whether those changes are enough to stand out in an increasingly crowded premium mid-range market is something we'll find out once the phones are put through their paces.
