OPPO has started teasing its next F-series smartphones in India. The company has confirmed that the OPPO F35 5G series is coming soon, although it hasn't revealed the launch date yet. The teaser also doesn't say which models will be part of the lineup.
The teaser image gives us a small look at the upcoming phone. It appears to have a rounded frame with an orange-gold finish. The front is mostly hidden, but the image does appear to show a hole-punch display. OPPO has simply added a “F35 5G Series Coming Soon” message to the teaser.
While the company hasn't mentioned the F35 or F35 Pro individually, earlier reports have pointed to both phones being in development. The new series will succeed the OPPO F33 lineup, which was launched in India earlier this year.
OPPO F35 5G series launch in India
OPPO hasn't given us an exact launch date yet. The company has only confirmed that the F35 5G series is coming to India soon.
Earlier reports had suggested that the phones could arrive by the end of August, but that window has now passed. The latest teaser suggests that OPPO could launch the new F-series phones sometime later this month.
More details about the phones are expected to emerge as OPPO gets closer to the launch.
OPPO F35 Pro could get a 10,000mAh battery
The OPPO F35 Pro is expected to be the more interesting phone in the lineup, going by the specifications reported so far. The phone is tipped to cost between Rs 40,000 and Rs 45,000 in India and could be a modified version of the OPPO A7 Pro Max that was recently launched in China.
The biggest talking point could be its battery. The F35 Pro is reportedly being tested with a 10,000mAh battery, which would be much larger than the 7,000mAh battery on the F33 Pro.
The Chinese A7 Pro Max, which is believed to be the basis for the F35 Pro, comes with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset and can be configured with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It also supports 80W wired charging.
It's not confirmed yet how many of these specifications will make their way to the Indian F35 Pro. But if OPPO keeps most of the hardware unchanged, the large battery will easily be one of the phone's main talking points.
50MP cameras and IP69K rating also tipped
The A7 Pro Max comes with a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel monochrome camera. There's also a 50-megapixel camera on the front.
Earlier reports have suggested that the F35 Pro could get a similar setup, although the front camera is said to support autofocus and a 100-degree field of view.
The phone could also come with IP66, IP68 and IP69K ratings for protection against dust and water. Again, these details are based on reports and haven't been confirmed by OPPO for the Indian model.
OPPO F35 Pro price and competition
The OPPO F33 was launched at Rs 31,999, while the F33 Pro started at Rs 37,999. A reported starting price of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 would therefore make the F35 Pro considerably more expensive than its predecessor.
And the competition in this price range is already getting interesting. Phones such as the POCO X8 Power, Realme P4 Power and Narzo Power are focusing heavily on large batteries while keeping their prices lower.
So, a 10,000mAh battery alone may not be enough for OPPO to justify the F35 Pro's expected price. The final chipset, cameras, display and charging speeds will be just as important.
For now, OPPO has only confirmed the F35 5G series. We'll have to wait for the company to reveal the launch date and confirm whether the 10,000mAh battery and other reported specifications are actually coming to India.
