Smartphone batteries have been getting bigger over the past few months, and Oppo and OnePlus seem determined to keep that trend going. After launching phones with 7,000mAh and 9,000mAh batteries earlier this year, the two brands are now reportedly working on devices that could push things even further.
According to a new leak, both companies are testing smartphones with batteries that could reach, or even exceed, the 10,000mAh mark.

Oppo and OnePlus tipped to be testing new battery tech
The claim comes from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, who says Oppo is developing a new A series smartphone with a single cell 10,000mAh battery.
OnePlus is also said to have a similar project in the works. The leak suggests the company is in the early stages of developing a new mid range smartphone with Pro branding, carrying the internal model number SM8845. If everything goes according to plan, the phone could arrive with a battery larger than 10,000mAh.
Neither Oppo nor OnePlus has confirmed these plans, so the information should be treated as a rumour for now.
It would be another big leap for both brands
The leak comes just months after both companies significantly increased battery capacity on their latest phones.
Oppo recently introduced the A6 Pro 5G in India with a 7,000mAh battery, the biggest ever fitted to an Oppo A series smartphone. It also supports 80W SuperVOOC fast charging.
OnePlus followed with the Nord 6, which packs a 9,000mAh battery, making it the largest battery ever seen on a OnePlus smartphone. Like the Oppo handset, it also supports 80W fast charging.

If the latest leak turns out to be accurate, both companies could soon cross the 10,000mAh milestone, something that has so far remained uncommon in mainstream smartphones.
For reference, the Oppo A6 Pro 5G starts at Rs. 21,999 in India, while the OnePlus Nord 6 starts at Rs. 38,999.
There is no word yet on when these rumoured devices could make their debut, but if they do, battery life could become one of the biggest talking points in the next wave of smartphones.
