Motorola has another book-style foldable in the works, and this one could look quite different from the Razr Fold that arrived in India earlier this year.

The company has teased a new Razr Fold with a shorter and wider body, giving it the passport-style shape that has started showing up on newer foldables. The teaser comes shortly after Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, which follows a similar design. Samsung has also moved towards a wider format with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, launched in August with a 3:4 aspect ratio.

Motorola Gives A First Look At The New Razr Fold

Motorola posted the teaser on Instagram on Wednesday, but stopped short of revealing the phone's name or any major specifications. The video does, however, give a fairly clear idea of what the new foldable will look like.

The phone appears to have a shorter, wider body rather than the relatively tall shape used by several earlier book-style foldables. It is shown in black, though that may be a camouflage case meant to conceal some of the final design.

A few details are still visible. There is a horizontal, pill-shaped camera module sticking out from the otherwise flat rear panel. The hinge also appears to sit fairly flat, while the inner display has a visible crease running down the centre.

For now, Motorola is keeping the rest of the phone under wraps. There is no word on the final name, specifications, features, price or exact launch date. These details could be announced at a later date.

Apple's iPhone Duo Is Now Another Rival

The timing of Motorola's teaser is hard to ignore. The company showed the new Razr Fold soon after Apple introduced the iPhone Duo, which brings Apple's own take on the book-style foldable category.

The iPhone Duo uses the same basic passport-style approach, with a wider and shorter body when folded. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is another recent example, with its 3:4 aspect ratio giving the phone a broader profile than some of its predecessors.

Motorola is therefore not starting from scratch in this segment. It entered the book-style foldable market in India in May with the Razr Fold, marking a major change for a lineup that had previously focused on clamshell-style flip phones.

Motorola Razr Fold Price And Specifications

The first Motorola Razr Fold was launched in India at ₹1,49,999 for the base version, which comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

It features a 6.6-inch LTPO pOLED cover display with support for up to a 165Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. Open the phone up and there is an 8.1-inch LTPO pOLED display, offering up to a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 6,200 nits. The foldable screen is protected by Ultra Thin Glass (UTG).

Motorola has not said whether the new model will share the same display specifications or bring a different setup. For now, the teaser mainly confirms that the company is sticking with the Razr Fold name while trying out a noticeably wider form factor for its next book-style foldable.
