Marvel's Wolverine is inching closer to release, and Insomniac Games has dropped a fresh cinematic trailer to keep the excitement going. It doesn't show any gameplay this time, but it does offer a better look at the game's world, its tone, and some of the characters Wolverine will come face to face with.

The trailer, titled Ain't No Hero, is packed with action from start to finish. It shows Logan battling his way through several locations, with Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike making appearances along the way. While players won't get a closer look at the gameplay, the trailer makes one thing clear: this isn't going to be a light-hearted superhero adventure. The action looks fast, violent, and very much in line with Wolverine's character.

There's another interesting announcement that came alongside the trailer. Insomniac Games has confirmed that Ain't No Hero will be shown before Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in select theatres across the US from Friday. It's a nice way to build more hype ahead of the game's launch later this year.

If you were hoping for a massive open world similar to Marvel's Spider-Man, that's not what Insomniac is aiming for here. Marvel's Wolverine is being built as a story driven, linear adventure. That doesn't mean the game will feel small, though. According to game director Mike Daly, players will travel to different locations around the world, with every level designed differently. Some areas will encourage exploration, while others will focus more on combat or stealth, so the experience should continue to feel fresh throughout the campaign.

Even though the game follows a linear structure, there will still be reasons to look around. Players can discover optional collectibles and other hidden content while making their way through each level.

The new trailer follows last month's gameplay reveal during PlayStation's State of Play event, where Insomniac finally showed how Wolverine plays in action. Fans got a look at his brutal close range combat, stealth mechanics, and mission structure. The studio also confirmed that Jean Grey will appear in the story and fight alongside Logan at certain points.

Insomniac has also put to rest one concern for collectors. The physical edition of Marvel's Wolverine will ship with an actual game disc inside the box, unlike GTA 6's physical release, which only includes a download code. The announcement also came before Sony revealed that it would stop producing physical discs for new PlayStation game releases from January 2028.

Marvel's Wolverine is scheduled to launch exclusively on the PS5 on September 15, 2026. Players can already pre-order the game through the PlayStation Store in Standard and Digital Deluxe editions.
