Lava has introduced two new budget smartphones in India, the Virat V1 5G and Virat V1 4G. The latest additions to the company's affordable lineup focus on the basics that matter to most buyers, including a large display, long battery life, and a clean Android experience. While both phones look quite similar, there are a few notable differences under the hood, including the processor, software version, and battery capacity.
The two smartphones will go on sale in India from July 31 via Flipkart and the Lava India website. Lava has also announced introductory prices that will be valid only on the first day of sale.
Lava Virat V1 5G, Virat V1 4G Price in India
The Lava Virat V1 5G is priced at Rs. 12,999, but buyers purchasing it on the first day can get it for Rs. 11,999. The Virat V1 4G, meanwhile, is priced at Rs. 9,999, with a launch day price of Rs. 8,999.
In terms of colours, the 5G model comes in Arya Blue and Sonar Gold, while the 4G version is available in Nilgiri Blue and Himalayan Silver.
Lava says both smartphones will also be backed by its doorstep after sales service, allowing customers to get support without visiting a service centre.
Lava Virat V1 5G, Virat V1 4G Specifications
At first glance, the Virat V1 5G and Virat V1 4G have plenty in common. Both feature a 6.75 inch HD+ display, an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, and an AI backed dual rear camera setup led by a 13 megapixel primary sensor. Selfies and video calls are handled by a 5 megapixel front camera on both devices.
The differences start with the software and hardware. The Virat V1 5G ships with Android 16 and is powered by the Unisoc T8200 chipset. It includes 4GB RAM and 64GB storage space, with an option for adding 4GB extra virtual RAM and storage capacity up to 1TB through a microSD card.
Unlike this one, the Virat V1 4G uses the Android 15 operating system with the Unisoc SC9863A chipset. It provides 4GB RAM, 64GB storage space, and 4GB extra virtual RAM support.
Another difference between the two phones is related to their battery capacities. The Virat V1 5G smartphone has a 6,000mAh battery, whereas the battery capacity of the 4G phone is 5,000mAh. In case of prioritising battery performance, it will be preferable to go for the 5G model.
Overall, Lava's new Virat V1 series is aimed at buyers looking for an affordable smartphone with the essentials, while also offering features such as IP64 protection, expandable storage, and the company's doorstep service support.
