Now, after some time, the time for Huawei to roll out an update to the Huawei Nova range has come again, and the company has finally announced the date when its latest phones will be unveiled. The new Huawei Nova 16 series will be launched in China next month, and Huawei has already begun teasing them prior to their unveiling.

A post published on Weibo by Huawei indicates that the new Huawei Nova 16 series is going to be released in China on June 1 at 12:08 pm China Standard Time, which translates to 9:38 am Indian Standard Time.

Though Huawei has officially announced only the Huawei Nova 16 Pro for now, it seems that there might be a total of three phones in the series, the regular Huawei Nova 16, the Huawei Nova 16 Pro, and the upgraded Huawei Nova 16 Pro Max.

It is also from the teaser released by Huawei that we can get an idea of the design of the upcoming Huawei Nova 16 Pro. In terms of design, the Huawei Nova 16 Pro retains the aesthetic camera cutouts that Huawei had used in the past on its Nova phones.

The rear panel houses a quad-camera setup split across two circular camera modules. Three sensors are placed together inside the main circular island, while another lens and the LED flash sit separately in a second module beside it. The device also appears to feature a flat rear panel with Huawei branding positioned at the bottom centre.

On the sides, the power button and volume controls can be seen placed on the right edge, while the opposite side looks mostly clean without additional buttons or design elements.

Leaks surrounding the lineup suggest the Huawei Nova 16 Pro Max could arrive with the largest display in the series. Colour options have also reportedly surfaced ahead of launch. The standard Nova 16 and Nova 16 Pro are expected to launch in black, blue, white, and gradient finishes. Meanwhile, the Nova 16 Pro Max could be limited to black, blue, and white shades.

Like other recent Huawei smartphones, the upcoming Nova 16 series is expected to ship with the company’s own HarmonyOS operating system instead of Android.

The new lineup will succeed the Huawei Nova 15 series that debuted in China in December 2025. For reference, the previous-generation Nova 15 arrived with a 6.7-inch OLED display, Huawei’s Kirin 8020 chipset, up to 512GB storage, and a 6,000mAh battery.

With Huawei slowly expanding its in-house software and hardware ecosystem further, the Nova 16 series could end up becoming one of the company’s more closely watched smartphone launches this year.
