Honour has introduced a new X-series smartphone in China, the Honour X80i, and it’s clearly leaning into a big battery and slim design as its main highlights.
Price and Availability
The Honour X80i starts at CNY 1,999 (around Rs. 26,000) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB + 256GB model is priced at CNY 2,199 (roughly Rs. 29,000), while the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB options come in at CNY 2,499 (about Rs. 33,000) and CNY 2,799 (around Rs. 37,000), respectively.
The phone is already available for purchase in China and comes in four finishes: Flowing Sand Pink, Lime Green, Moon Shadow White, and Obsidian Black.
Display and Software
On the front, you get a 6.6-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also supports up to 6,500 nits of peak brightness and 3,840Hz PWM dimming, which should help with eye comfort during extended use. The display is protected by aluminosilicate glass and offers a 95 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The device runs MagicOS 10, based on Android 16.
Performance And Hardware
Powering the phone is MediaTek’s Dimensity 6500 Elite chipset, paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. You get up to 12GB of RAM and as much as 512GB of internal storage, which should be more than enough for most users.
Cameras
For photography, the Honour X80i keeps things fairly straightforward. There’s a 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture, while the front houses an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calls.
Battery And Build
One of the main topics of discussion in this case is the 7,000mAh battery, which has the capability to charge the device using a 45W charger. Additionally, the device also has the capability to charge other devices using a wired reverse charging method, which would be useful in case of an emergency.
Despite the high capacity of the battery, the device has a thickness of just 7.34mm and a weight of around 185 grams, which makes it a slim device in its class. Additionally, the device also has an IP66 rating.
Connectivity And Extras
In terms of the connectivity features, the device has the capability to connect to 5G networks and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, and also has the capability to connect to other devices using the NFC function. Additionally, the device also has the capability to connect to different navigation systems such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and QZSS. Additionally, the device also has different sensors, such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, and also a compass and infrared sensor. For security, there’s an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Overall, the Honour X80i looks like a device that’s trying to balance a slim design with a large battery while keeping the rest of the specs fairly practical.
