Honor has officially confirmed that the much-talked-about Honor Robot Phone will launch in Q3 2026. That places the release window between July and September this year.
The announcement was made by Honor CEO Li Jian during the Cannes Film Festival. In a post shared on Weibo, Li Jian said the company plans to combine its imaging technology with advanced smart manufacturing to push smartphone videography further. . "We will pour a century of accumulated imaging science into this small mobile device, empowering Chinese cinema to reach the pinnacle of art with Chinese intelligent manufacturing, and jointly creating our own world glory" (translated from Chinese), Li Jian in a Weibo post.

The company has also confirmed a partnership with ARRI for the upcoming device, hinting at a strong focus on professional-grade imaging and video capabilities.
A Smartphone With A Robotic Camera System
The Honor Robot Phone looks very different from traditional smartphones. Instead of a fixed camera module, the device features a robotic gimbal camera mounted on the top section of the phone.
The camera can automatically rotate and track subjects while recording videos, almost like a dedicated handheld gimbal built directly into a smartphone.
Honor says the device uses a three-axis mechanical gimbal stabilisation system combined with an AI-powered stabilisation engine. The system is designed to react to movement in real time and keep footage stable even while moving.
The phone also supports intelligent AI subject tracking, allowing the camera to recognise people or objects, predict movement, and follow them automatically during recording.
Designed For Creators And Mobile Filmmaking
One of the standout features of the device is a mode called Spinshot. It allows users to capture footage in either 90-degree or 180-degree shooting modes while using one-handed controls.
Honor is positioning the Robot Phone as a creator-focused device with advanced stabilisation and cinematic video features. The company claims it delivers industry-leading stabilisation performance on a smartphone.

The concept was first teased during the launch of the Honor Magic 8 series last year before being showcased publicly at Mobile World Congress 2026 earlier this year in Barcelona.
Launch Could Coincide With Major Flagship Releases
With a Q3 2026 launch window, the Honor Robot Phone is expected to arrive around the same time as several major smartphone launches.
The device could end up competing with Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone, alongside Samsung’s expected Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 models. Google’s anticipated Pixel 11 series is also expected to launch during a similar period.
