Google has just come out with a new feature that is being dubbed 'Search Profiles', which is targeting creators and publishers and comes with the aim to boost their visibility across the web. This latest feature helps publishers and creators manage how they appear in Discovery Feeds and Google Search. Search Profiles gives creators and publishers a dedicated space on Google Search to showcase their latest content and social media activity. The feature is currently available in the United States and is designed to help audiences discover and follow creators more easily.

Search Profiles act as a personalised hub where creators can highlight their recent articles, videos, and social posts. These profiles can appear through Google Search knowledge panels, Google Discover, or via a direct shareable URL. The company says the feature will help improve visibility while giving creators greater control over how they are represented across Google Search and Discover.

Eligible users can either claim an existing profile that Google has automatically generated or create a new one from scratch. During setup, creators can connect their social media accounts and customise the profile with details such as a profile picture, biography, website links, social media handles, video platforms, and other relevant information.

To qualify for a Search Profile, creators and publishers must meet Google’s follower requirements on supported platforms. Users need at least 100,000 followers on YouTube, Instagram, or X, while TikTok creators must have a minimum of 300,000 followers. The feature is also limited to users aged 18 and above.

According to Google, claiming a Search Profile may also lead to the creation of a Knowledge Panel. For users who already have one, Google will update it with the latest profile information, a refreshed avatar, links to recent content, and a direct shortcut to the Search Profile.

Creators who want to set up a profile can visit profile.google.com/claim, sign in with their Google Account, connect at least one eligible social platform account, and then select the option to create a profile.

Before creating a new profile, users can check whether Google has already generated one for them. This can be done by visiting profile.google.com and signing in with the Google Account associated with their creator activities. Alternatively, they can search for themselves on Google and look for the "View Search Profile" option available through the Knowledge Panel menu.

For now, Search Profiles are launching only in the US, but Google says it plans to expand the feature to more creators, publishers, and regions in the future while adding new capabilities over time.
