If you've been waiting for Google's next flagship phones, you might have to stretch your budget a little more this year.

Just weeks before the Made by Google event on August 12, a fresh leak suggests the Pixel 11 series could launch with higher price tags than last year's models. Interestingly, the rumoured increase may not simply be about Google charging more. The company is also expected to make 256GB the new starting storage option across the lineup, replacing the 128GB base model offered with the Pixel 10 series.

The latest details come from tipster Roland Quandt, who claims the standard Pixel 11 could start at GBP 879 for the 256GB variant. That's higher than the Pixel 10, which debuted at GBP 799 with 128GB of storage.

The same trend is expected to continue with the Pro models. The Pixel 11 Pro is tipped to start at GBP 1,079 for 256GB, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL could reportedly be priced at GBP 1,279. Both would cost more than their Pixel 10 counterparts.

The possibility of a price hike isn't exactly coming out of nowhere. Earlier reports had already hinted that Google was considering increasing prices in Europe, and a company executive reportedly linked the move to rising component costs. If the base storage is indeed doubled to 256GB, that could also explain why buyers may end up paying more this year.

But the latest leak isn't all good news.

While storage could be getting a boost, battery capacity may be heading in the opposite direction. The leak claims the Pixel 11 will pack a 4,985mAh battery, the Pixel 11 Pro could get a 4,850mAh unit and the Pixel 11 Pro XL may feature a 5,115mAh battery.

On paper, those numbers are slightly lower than the batteries found in the current generation. The Pixel 10 ships with a 4,970mAh battery, the Pixel 10 Pro has a 4,870mAh unit, while the Pixel 10 Pro XL packs a larger 5,200mAh battery. The differences aren't huge, but they'll likely raise questions about whether Google is planning efficiency improvements to offset the smaller capacities.

Google hasn't confirmed any of these details so far. All eyes are now on the Made by Google event on August 12, where the company is expected to unveil the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and the Pixel Watch 5. Until then, these details remain part of the rumour mill.
