If you've been waiting for the Google Pixel 11 series, be prepared to pay a little extra. Google has reportedly confirmed that the rising cost of RAM is likely to make its upcoming smartphones more expensive.

The company is expected to take the wraps off the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold at its Made by Google event next month. While a price hike had already been rumoured, Google has now reportedly explained why it is happening.

According to 9to5Google, Google's Vice President of Devices and Services, Shakil Barkat, reportedly said the company's hardware business has been hit by a supplier driven RAM shortage. According to him, this is not just Google's problem. It is affecting consumer technology companies across the industry.

Barkat reportedly referred to Morgan Stanley data, which claims the cost of 1GB of RAM has jumped from around $2.8 (roughly Rs. 270) in 2025 to nearly $12 (about Rs. 1,155) this year. That's a massive increase, and Google says it has little choice but to pass some of that added cost on to buyers.

What's more, the reported price revision may not stop with the Pixel 11 lineup. Barkat reportedly suggested that Google's entire Pixel family could see pricing changes depending on how component supply and costs evolve. That means even some existing Pixel models could become more expensive in the coming weeks.

The comments come just days after a leak revealed the expected prices, storage variants and colour options for the Pixel 11 series. According to the leak, the standard Google Pixel 11 could start at EUR 999 (roughly Rs. 1,08,000) in Europe and GBP 879 (about Rs. 1,12,000) in the UK for the 256GB storage model.

Google has already confirmed that its Made by Google event will take place on August 12 at 3pm PT, which is August 13 at 3:30am IST. All four Pixel 11 smartphones are expected to make their debut at the event.
