BenQ introduced the MOBIUZ EX271QZ on May 4 as its latest push into high-end gaming displays, and it's clearly not just chasing speed. The 27-inch QHD monitor combines a 500Hz refresh rate with a QD-OLED panel, aimed at balancing competitive performance with visuals that actually look the way game creators intended.

Positioned for serious gamers, console players, and high-performance PC setups, the EX271QZ is part of a growing shift where monitors are no longer just about faster numbers but also about how games feel visually.

Moving Beyond Just Speed

BenQ is trying to change how gaming monitors approach colour. Instead of the usual presets built around genres, the EX271QZ introduces Game Art Colour Profiles. These include modes like Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Realistic, each tuned to match the visual style of different games rather than applying blanket adjustments.

Backing this is something BenQ calls 'Spectral Colour Refinement'. Instead of tweaking individual colours in isolation, the system looks at the entire colour spectrum and balances how hues, brightness, and saturation interact. The idea is simple. Nothing should look overdone or washed out. Skin tones stay natural, highlights feel controlled, and scenes carry more depth overall.

As Rajeev Singh, managing director of BenQ India and South Asia, puts it, “Today’s gamers want both fluid clarity and cinematic immersion. With the EX271QZ, we’ve reimagined what a gaming monitor can deliver — not just speed, but emotion, depth, and realism exactly as creators intended.”

Built For Fast, Competitive Play

Of course, performance still plays a huge role here. The 500Hz refresh rate paired with a 0.03ms response time is built for fast-paced gameplay.

In practical terms, that means cleaner motion, less blur, and better tracking when things get chaotic on screen. Whether it’s a competitive shooter or a fast-moving action sequence, the monitor is designed to keep everything sharp and responsive. Even in slower, cinematic moments, the higher refresh rate helps reduce micro-stutter and keeps transitions smooth.

QD-OLED And HDR Take Care Of The Visuals

The QD-OLED panel is where things start to stand out. It allows for pixel-level lighting control, which translates to deep blacks and strong contrast without the usual compromises.

You get true black levels, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, 99 per cent DCI-P3 colour coverage, and peak brightness that can go up to 1000 nits in HDR. In real use, that means darker scenes feel more detailed, bright areas don’t blow out, and overall depth looks more natural whether you’re gaming or watching content.

Smarter Contrast And Colour Control

BenQ is also adding some intelligence to how visuals are handled. The High Pixel Contrast feature dynamically adjusts contrast in real time, helping reveal details in darker scenes without affecting brighter areas.

Then there’s Colour Shuttle, which is essentially a platform for managing and sharing colour profiles across devices. It’s aimed at users who want more control over how their display looks and behaves depending on what they’re playing.

Designed For Full Setups, Not Just A Screen

The EX271QZ isn’t just about the panel. It’s built to fit into a more complete entertainment setup.

You get HDMI 2.1 with eARC support, which means it can handle modern consoles and high-quality audio output. It also supports formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and the stand is designed to accommodate a soundbar cleanly, which is a small but practical touch.

Keeping OLED Longevity In Check

OLED panels come with their own concerns, and BenQ is addressing that with a set of built-in protections. These include graphene-based cooling, pixel refresh cycles, idle dimming, logo dimming, and pixel shift technology.

All of this runs in the background, aiming to reduce the risk of burn-in and keep performance consistent over time.
