Apple AirPods Max 2 Launched: After much anticipation the Cupertino-based tech giant has finally dropped its latest AirPods Max 2, and this serves as a successor to the previous generation's AirPods Max, which made its way to the shelves in December of 2020. This new headset from Apple comes packed with the H2 chip, enhanced noise cancellation, and an array of features that were previously exclusive to the AirPods Pro lineup only. This new audio gizmo by Apple costs Rs 67,900, and pre-orders for the same will start March 25, with shipping expected to begin in April. Let's take a deeper dive and take a look at what this new product from Apple has to offer.
A Leap From H1 TO H2
The biggest upgrade that the device has gone through is its switch from the previously embedded H1 chip to Apple's latest H2 chip. This unlocks a series of features such as Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation and Live Translation as well, features that the previous generation of AirPods Max just didn't support. Apart from that, the device also comes with Siri head gesture control as well as camera remote functions via what's known as the Digital Crown, giving the users the option to take pictures and start video recording right from the headset itself, and that too from a distance.
ANC Gets A Noticeable Upgrade
Apple says the AirPods Max 2 take active noise cancellation a step further, making it up to 1.5x more effective than the previous model. This improvement comes from the H2 chip paired with updated computational audio. Even Transparency mode feels different now, thanks to a refined digital signal processing system that makes outside sounds come through more naturally and less artificially.
Lossless Audio Comes Via USB-C
With the new version, Apple is finally bringing 24-bit, 48kHz lossless audio support—but only when you’re plugged in using the USB-C cable. There’s also a new high dynamic range amplifier in play, which is said to deliver cleaner, more detailed sound. On top of that, Spatial Audio has been improved too, offering better separation between instruments along with tighter, more controlled bass.

Design, Colourways And The Price Tag
Design-wise it seems Apple is taking very slow steps in order to revamp or change it, as not much has changed this time from the outside; the AirPods Max 2 hold the same over-ear form factor with a knit mesh headband. Prospective buyers will have the option to choose from midnight, starlight, orange, purple and blue colourways for the headset. This latest variant, serving as a successor to the previous version, has seen a price bump mainly due to the use of the H2 chip in the AirPods Max 2, and with that, it also unlocks an array of features.
