The expansion into visual creation is what Anthropic aims to achieve by introducing Claude Design, an entirely new product designed specifically for visual creation using artificial intelligence. At first glance, the concept seems very straightforward: give instructions for what you want, and let the software do the rest.
However, that’s not all there is to Claude Design. This new product definitely indicates that Anthropic is moving towards more design-oriented platforms such as Figma.
From Prompt to Visual Draft
The key feature that sets Claude Design apart is the software’s ability to produce a functional visual draft with one simple prompt. Whether it’s a landing page, pitch deck, or product prototype, the tool generates a starting point that users can immediately interact with.
It runs on Claude Opus 4.7, which allows it to handle not just layouts but also structure and visual logic. The output isn’t static either. It can be adjusted using prompts, inline editing, sliders, or by making direct adjustments to it, giving the impression that it is more of an interactive space than a generator.
Collaboration Is Now More Possible
An addition which is more practical is collaboration. It can be used in team settings for the purpose of designing products or services, allowing for a collaborative approach rather than merely being a tool for individual use. The programme allows for different approaches.
Multiple Entry Points. You can begin with just text, upload references like images or documents, or even build on an existing codebase. That flexibility makes it easier to integrate into different workflows instead of forcing a new one.
What You Can Actually Create
Claude Design isn’t limited to just one type of output. This is capable of producing web frontend interfaces, interactive prototypes, wireframes, presentation slides, presentations, marketing content, and even social media content.
The other aspect that comes into play with it is a more pragmatic one, where designs can be saved in formats such as PDF, PPTX, HTML pages, or even uploaded directly to sites such as Canva. This can also involve simply sharing projects using links or by saving the project as a folder for further collaboration.
Design To Development
The next interesting aspect of this process involves Claude Code, where once the design is finished, the backend code for it can be generated from there.
This reduces the gap between concept and execution, something that traditionally requires multiple tools and teams.
Availability And What It Means
Right now, Claude Design is available in research preview for paid users across Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise tiers. There’s no clarity yet on whether it will reach free users.
What’s clear, though, is the direction. Anthropic isn’t just adding features to its AI ecosystem. It’s moving into spaces that were previously dominated by specialised tools, and trying to bring them under a single, prompt-driven experience.
