The foldable space in India just got a little more interesting. AI+ has launched its new lineup, and leading the charge is the clamshell-style AI+ Nova Flip 5G, which arrives alongside the Nova 2 5G and Nova 2 Ultra 5G.

This one clearly leans into the whole “premium feel without the premium price” approach. At Rs 29,999 for the 8GB + 256GB variant, it undercuts most foldables in the market. The phone comes in a Glacier White finish and will be available via Flipkart starting May, although the exact sale date is still under wraps.

Design And Display That Stand Out

Right off the bat, the Nova Flip 5G brings the familiar clamshell foldable design. On the inside, you get a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a sharp resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels. It also supports 10-bit colour, covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut, and peaks at 1200 nits brightness, so it’s not just about looks, it’s built to deliver a solid viewing experience.

Flip it closed, and there’s a 3.1-inch AMOLED cover display on the outside, which should be handy for quick interactions without unfolding the device.

Performance And Software

Under the hood, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of storage. It ships with Android 15 out of the box, layered with the company’s NxtQ OS on top.

Camera Setup And Flexibility

For photography, the Nova Flip 5G features a 50-megapixel primary camera along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It supports up to 10x digital zoom and is designed to work well even in partially folded or hover modes, which is kind of the whole point of a foldable.

On the front, there’s a 32-megapixel camera that handles selfies and video calls.

Battery And Extras

The device packs a 4,325mAh battery with support for 33W wired charging, along with PD3.0 and PPS standards. In terms of connectivity, you get dual 5G SIM support, Bluetooth, NFC, OTG, GPS with L1 and L5 bands, and a USB Type-C port.

It also includes essentials like a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, gyroscope, and hall sensor. The phone measures 7.2mm when folded and weighs 193g, keeping things relatively slim for a foldable.

Overall, the Nova Flip 5G looks like an attempt to make foldables more accessible, especially for users who want the experience without stretching their budget too far.
