AI+ has expanded its smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Nova 2 5G and Nova 2 Ultra 5G. These arrive alongside the Nova Flip 5G, but unlike the foldable, the Nova 2 series is clearly aimed at buyers who want solid specs without spending too much.
The focus here is simple, big battery, decent cameras, and pricing that stays within reach.
Pricing And Availability
Let’s start with what matters most for this segment, pricing.
The Nova 2 5G starts at Rs 8,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant, while the 6GB + 128GB option goes up to Rs 10,999. It will be available from April 14 at 12 pm via Flipkart.
The Nova 2 Ultra 5G sits a tier above, starting at Rs 16,999 for 6GB + 128GB, and going up to Rs 18,999 for the 8GB variant. This one goes on sale from April 17.
Both phones come in multiple colour options, so there’s enough variety if you care about how your phone looks.
Two Phones, Two Different Experiences
What’s interesting is how differently these two phones are positioned.
The Nova 2 Ultra 5G is clearly the more premium pick. It gets a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and brightness that goes up to 2,500 nits. That’s actually quite impressive for the price.
The regular Nova 2 5G, on the other hand, keeps things simple. You get a 6.745-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It’s not flashy, but it gets the job done for everyday use.
Performance That Matches The Price
Under the hood, the Ultra runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chip, which should handle gaming and multitasking without much trouble.
The Nova 2 5G uses a Unisoc T8200 processor, which is more suited for basic usage, think social media, streaming, and light gaming.
So yeah, the difference in performance is pretty clear between the two.
Cameras And Battery Take Center Stage
Both phones lean heavily on their cameras and battery life.
The Ultra model comes with a 50MP Sony IMX752 sensor with OIS, along with an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The standard Nova 2 sticks to a single 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.
But the real highlight here is the battery.
Both phones pack a massive 6,000mAh battery, which should easily last a full day and more. The Ultra supports 33W fast charging, while the Nova 2 5G gets 18W charging.
The Basics Are Covered
On the software side, both devices run Android 16 with NxtQ OS on top.
Connectivity is pretty standard, 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB Type-C. The Ultra gets slightly better specs with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
You also get an IP64 rating on both phones, which means they can handle a bit of dust and splashes without issues.

The Bottom Line
The AI+ Nova 2 series feels like a very calculated move.
If you want something affordable with a big battery, the Nova 2 5G makes sense. If you’re willing to spend a bit more for a better display and performance, the Ultra is clearly the better pick.
Either way, AI+ seems to be focusing on what actually matters to most buyers in this segment, battery life, decent cameras, and pricing that doesn’t feel out of reach.
