Adobe is pushing deeper into AI with a new productivity-focused agent built into Adobe Acrobat. Announced on Wednesday, this new tool is designed to go beyond simple assistance and actually handle tasks across content creation, editing, and sharing.
At the same time, the company is upgrading PDF Spaces, its collaborative document environment, with more dynamic and interactive capabilities.
What The Productivity Agent Actually Does
Adobe is calling this a productivity agent, but in simple terms, it works like an AI assistant that can take actions, not just respond to prompts.
Users can type in natural language requests, and the agent can generate summaries, titles, images, audio overviews, and even full documents. It can also create things like presentations, podcasts, and social media posts by pulling together different tools and AI models.
What makes it more interesting is that it doesn’t just work in isolation. The agent can connect with Adobe’s own creative tools as well as third-party agents, which means it can expand its capabilities depending on what the user needs.
It also uses context from past files and even brand guidelines, so the output feels consistent rather than generic.
PDF Spaces Gets A Bigger Role
Alongside the AI agent, Adobe is upgrading PDF Spaces to feel less like a file-sharing tool and more like a curated experience.
Users can now combine PDFs, documents, links, and notes into a single space that can be customised for a specific audience. The productivity agent can even build this space for you, structuring it with the right content and adding context where needed.
What stands out here is that these spaces are not limited to logged-in users. Anyone can view them, making it easier to share work with clients or larger audiences without friction.
Where You Get These Features
These new capabilities are part of Adobe’s paid ecosystem. They are available with Acrobat AI plans, including Acrobat AI Assistant, Acrobat Studio, and Adobe Express Premium.
Adobe is also introducing something called Acrobat Express, which brings together document insights, content generation, and AI tools into a single experience.
What This Update Really Means
Adobe isn’t just adding another AI feature here. It’s trying to change how people create and share documents altogether.

Instead of static files, the idea is to turn documents into something more interactive and tailored. With AI handling the heavy lifting, users can focus more on what they want to communicate rather than how to build it.
If this works as intended, Acrobat could start feeling less like a PDF tool and more like a full productivity platform.
