Hanuman Jayanti 2026: Significance
According to the sacred Hindu legends, Maa Anjana performed hard penance in devotion to Lord Shiva. Pleased with her devotion, Lord Shiva granted a boon to Mother Anjana to bear a son who would be a replica of His own essence, a Rudra Ansha. According to another legend, the holy Prasad from King Dasharath’s sacrificial ritual of Yajna was conveyed to Anjana through the Wind God, Pawan Dev, resulting in the birth of Lord Hanuman. Therefore, he is referred to as ‘Vayuputra’ and ‘Maruti.’ Lord Hanuman is the very embodiment of Lord Shiva Himself and is His supreme devotee.

On this day, devotees get up early in the morning, take a holy bath, and keep a fast. The abhishekam of Lord Hanuman is also performed on the sacred occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
