Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off nearly 50 air-conditioned electric buses for Nagpur under the Centre’s PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. The move aims to make a transition in public transportation towards a more sustainable urban mobility in the city. The program was inaugurated in a program held in Guwahati during the ongoing tour of the PM in the northeastern state.
With the addition of 50 new bus services, the electric bus fleet of Nagpur reached 360, with 100 more buses to be launched soon as part of the scheme.

Nagpur Electric Bus Service: Project Details
The electric buses will be operated by the transport department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) under the Aapli Bus service.
The buses will operate in two variants: 12-metre and nine-metre, which will cater to the demands of different routes in the city.
The new buses are fully air-conditioned and equipped with GPS tracking, intelligent transport system (ITS) and digital ticketing facilities.
There will be special emphasis on accessibility with divyang-friendly hydraulic ramps, which have been installed for the safe boarding and de-boarding of people with disabilities or those with special requirements.
