A 33-year-old man succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, ten days after a scooter he was riding was reportedly struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a minor in Mumbai, according to police. Authorities have registered a case at Tilak Nagar police station against the underage driver and his father, who faces charges for permitting a minor to operate the vehicle.
The victim, Dhrumul Patel, was accompanied by his wife, Minal Patel, who remains in critical condition, police said. The couple suffered serious injuries when a speeding Kia Seltos, allegedly driven recklessly by the minor, collided with their scooter near Somaiya College in Vidyavihar on February 5.
The SUV is believed to be owned by the boy’s father, Valji Raja Bhushan. Following Dhrumul’s death, the initial FIR will be revised to include relevant sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the official added.
Police have carried out a site inspection and reviewed CCTV footage from the area to determine the SUV’s speed and the exact circumstances of the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident, The family of Ramdhani Yadav, who died when a segment of an under-construction metro bridge collapsed in Mulund on Saturday, staged a protest at the site on Sunday, refusing to accept his body. Yadav was crushed in his autorickshaw on LBS Road near the Johnson and Johnson factory, killing him instantly and injuring three others.
Joined by the Yadav community, the family demanded Rs 2 crore in compensation and a government job, rejecting an earlier offer of Rs 20 lakh. Police, local MLA Mohit Kotecha, and former MP Manoj Kotak held talks with them. Yadav, a resident of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, and former village head from the Samajwadi Party, is survived by three daughters.

An FIR has been registered against Milan Road Buildtech and DB Hill LBG officials, and five project managers, including the director, have been arrested under charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
