Mumbai Local Trains: Ahead of Holi, people in Mumbai will get festival gifts as the Western Railway said it will launch 12 new air-conditioned (AC) local train services and three new non-AC services on its suburban network in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region from February 19.

The Western Railway, in an X post, said, "The Mumbai Suburban network of Western Railway is set to further strengthen passenger services with the introduction of 12 additional AC local train services and 3 new Non AC services w.e.f. 19th February, 2026."

The Western Railway officials said the new AC services will replace 11 existing non-AC services. The decision was taken in view of growing popularity of AC local trains, they said, adding that AC services operating on Saturdays and Sundays will also increase significantly from 77 to 106.

AC Services Will Increase In Mumbai

The total number of suburban AC services will increase from 121 to 133, while the overall number of local train services will increase from 1,410 to 1,414. In another change, a slow local service currently running between Bhayandar and Bandra will now originate from Virar.

Mega Block On Main And Harbour Lines On Feb 15

In another development, the railway authorities on Friday said that it will operate a mega block on its Main and Harbour Lines on Sunday, February 15, 2026. The block will disrupt the timings of the suburban railways of Mumbai. The authorities said important engineering and maintenance works on the line will be carried out.

The UP and DOWN lines between Matunga and Mulund sections will be affected from 11:05 am to 3:45 pm. The DOWN services from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from 10:36 am to 3:10 pm will be diverted towards Matunga. The trains running between this stretch will halt at their scheduled stations and are expected to reach their destinations 15 minutes late.
