Gym workouts can help build muscle strength, improve endurance, increase bone density, and support weight loss goals. Choosing yoga or the gym will be solely based on the person’s health goals, fitness level, and likes.

Social media platforms tend to feature videos involving calming yoga routines, sunrise yoga sessions, wellness retreats, and mindful living, which is appealing to Gen Z. Moreover, many celebrities are promoting yoga on social media, which can attract Gen Z and make them take it up for enhancing the mental well-being.
3. Yoga Equals Convenience And Affordability
Yoga needs minimal equipment and can be practised almost anywhere, such as at home, a studio, a park, or even easily practised while travelling. A yoga mat and a small amount of space will be required for the person, and he/she is good to go. Gym memberships, travel time, and access to equipment can sometimes become barriers, especially for Gen Z, who are navigating hectic lifestyles. Moreover, gyms are overcrowded too, and, hence, many are opting for yoga now.

Gyms continue to be an important part of many fitness journeys. Those who want to build muscle, improve athletic performance, or achieve specific fitness goals tend to go to the gym on a daily basis. Understand that it will be a good idea to combine yoga and gym to break the monotony and spice up the workout. Yoga can improve flexibility, recovery, and mental focus, while gym training helps build strength.

On talking to Dr Nimit Nagda, Internal Medicine Expert, Zynova Shalby Hospital, Mumbai, he stated, “For long-term health, consistency matters the most instead of choosing yoga or the gym. Even if you are practising yoga or going to the gym, be regular and consistent, don’t miss the daily sessions. Make sure to go to yoga or the gym at least 6 days a week. If you are combining yoga and gym, do yoga for 3 days and gym for the remaining 3 days, with 1 day as a rest day to help your body reboot and recover. Rather than choosing one over the other, combining both yoga and gym may be the smartest move to stay healthy.”
