Co-Ord Set For Short Girls:  From travelling through public transport to a hectic on-the-run schedule, Summer fashion calls for comfortable and easy looks. That is the major reason Co-Ord sets are rapidly becoming a go-to option for many of us in the scorching summer heat. However, if not styled right, these Co-ord sets might not complement your short height and look overwhelming.

9 Co-Ord Set Styling Tricks To Create A Taller Appearance:

Here is a list of 9 simple styling tricks for girls with short height to always ensure that your co-ord outfit makes you appear taller without looking unbalanced and unfashionable.

1. Wear High-Waist Bottoms

With a high waistline, you automatically create the effect of having longer legs because of the increased waistline. This means that when purchasing coord sets, you should ensure that the bottoms are high-waisted. You can also tuck in the tops into the bottoms so that the high waist is visible or go with crop tops, so your legs appear longer.

2. Strip Patterns For The Win

Opt for a vertical strip-patterned co-ord set that will put focus on the vertical streamline to add an illusion of being taller. Vertical lines include long-line vests, vertical seams or vertical patterns like thin pinstripes or vertical ribbing.

3. Monotonous Co-Ord Set

Matching an outfit from head to toe prevents visual gaps that may cut your silhouette. Co-ord sets of either the same colour or tones will create the illusion of an elongated figure. You should avoid mixing different colours or patterns, but if prints are your thing, try sticking to the prints of the same colour family, like the darker or lighter versions of the same hue.

4. Correct Hemline Length

Pay attention to the hemline of your skirt, shorts and pants. Midi-length skirts with a hemline landing on the widest part of your calves may visually chop off your legs. Instead, try wearing shorter skirts and pants that will show the slimmest part of your ankles, knee-length or just-above-the-knees. For pants, cropped versions are always a good choice if their hemline lands above your ankle.

5. Structured Silhouettes

Boxy, loose coord sets may look too big for your small figure. Try wearing tops with fitted shoulders and a noticeable waistline, or cinch your waist with a belt. Tapered sleeves and straight-fitting pants will accentuate your figure. Do not wear excessively voluminous clothes both on top and bottom; choose at least one body-fitting piece.

6. Wear Heels Or Raised Flats

Heels add immediate height, and even a slight rise from platform sneakers or wedges will alter your proportions in a positive way. Shoes with pointy toes will make your legs look longer, and nude shoes, close to your skin colour, will visually elongate your legs, particularly when you wear skirts or shorts. When wearing flats, opt for sleek, pointed or almond-toed footwear.

7. The Art Of Layering

Layering is very helpful if done carefully. Try to pick outerwear pieces that would either match the length of your bottoms or be shorter than them. For instance, a cropped blazer or shirt over high-waisted pants will show your waistline and elongate your legs. You can also wear an oversized shirt over a tank top, but keep it unbuttoned and streamlined.

8. Subtle Leg Breaks

When wearing a co-ord set that consists of two different colours on top and bottom, wear a thin belt or any detail at the waistline to create an elongated effect rather than a split one. Avoid wearing wide belts that will break your proportion lines into short ones.

9. Accessorise Right

Wear long necklaces, pendant necklaces, and small scarves. Do not wear broad chokers or accessories which may accentuate horizontal lines in the neck region. Instead, wear small accessories, like long earrings, to accessorise with vertical emphasis.

Co-Ord Set Styling Tricks For Girls With Short Height: My Takeaway

As someone who is 5'2", i feel that the tailored fit is a secret weapon when it comes to elongating your height, which gives the appearance of proper fitting and a balanced look. Shoulder seams in line, sleeves ending at flattering lengths, and pants that hug without gathering at awkward spots make your look seem proportionate. To make your co-ord set complement your short height, opt for a shortened hem and a visible and clinched waist, all of which make the outfit look elongating.
