Easy Rainbow Modak Recipe Under 30 Minutes: Ingredients You Need
For the outer layer
· Khoya – 300 g
· Ghee – 70–80 g
· Elaichi powder – ½ tsp
· Milk powder – 50 g
· Saffron milk – 20 ml
· Pista puree – 20 g
· Orange extract/edible colour – 10 ml
For the stuffing
· Gulkand – 50 g
· Desiccated coconut – 60 g
· Elaichi powder – ½ tsp
· Tutti frutti – 20 g
· Cashews – 10 g
· Sesame – ½ tsp
How To Make Delicious Rainbow Modaks At Home In Under 30 Minutes?
Step 1: Prepare The Modak Filling (10 minutes)
Heat ghee in a pan and cook the khoya until it begins to leave the sides of the pan. Add elaichi powder and milk powder, mix well and allow it to cool.
Step 2: Prepare The Dough (5 minutes)
For the stuffing, combine gulkand, desiccated coconut, elaichi powder, tutti frutti, cashews and sesame.
Step 3: Prepare The Outer Covering Of Rainbow Modaks (3 minutes)
Divide the khoya mixture into four equal portions. Leave one portion white and colour the remaining portions using pista puree, saffron milk and orange extract.
1. White: Leave plain.
2. Green: Mix with pistachio puree.
3. Yellow/Orange: Mix with saffron milk.
4. Bright Orange: Mix with orange extract or food colour.
Step 4: Shape The Modaks
Using a modak mould, layer the coloured khoya, place the stuffing in the centre and shape into modaks.
Step 5: Serve on festive occasions
Simply place the modaks into a vibrantly decorated, clean plate and offer to lord Ganesha and afterwards to his devotees.
Chef’s Note: Natural ingredients such as pistachio and saffron can be used to add colour and flavour. Edible food colours may be used as an alternative where required.

Tips To Make Soft And Delicious Modaks Every Time
For preparing soft and shiny modaks, use fresh coconut, which should be finely shredded, and you can also apply ghee after preparing them.
How To Store Homemade Modaks?
Allow them to cool completely; store them in an airtight box, placing a sheet of parchment paper between each modak, and keep them in the refrigerator for three days.
